Yes, it does really float...

Concrete Canoe held its first intercollegiate competition back in 1972, held at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN.  Ohio Northern University participated in that competition, and has participated in most, if not all concrete canoe competitions since then (I am not entirely sure of our team's history - working on it, though).

In 2009, ONU's Green Monster won first place at the North Central Regional Conference (NCRC) for the first time in school history, then travelled to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL to compete in the National Concrete Canoe Competition (NCCC), where it took 13th place out of the top 22 teams in the country and Canada.

This past spring, the ONU team's Nanook took 2nd place at the North Central Student Conference (formerly NCRC), hosted by the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI.  This qualified them for the NCCC again - the fourth national appearance in the last 6 years.  This year's event is to take place June 16-18 at the University of Evansville, IN.  See the 2011 NCCC website for more details (http://content.asce.org/conferences/nccc2011/index.html).

... As you can see, this site is still very much under construction. Please continue to look around and keep checking back over the next few months as I continue to create and update the site. Any questions, comments, suggestions, etc. can be directed toward me, Lee Saunders (l-saunders@onu.edu).  I would be more than glad to answer any questions, respond to any comments, and take any suggestions.

Thanks,

Lee
