Student Senate is the governing body for the students at Ohio Northern and serves as a liaison between the students and administration. Student Senate is here to serve the students by bringing suggestions, comments, and ideas to the attention of the administration. These suggestions and ideas are then put into proposals that are presented to University officials. Over the years Student Senate has brought proposals such as lights on the tennis courts, extending visitation hours, scholarship initiatives, mile markers on the Green Monster, and many more.
There are several ways you can get involved with Senate. In the fall there are elections for housing representatives. Senators are elected for all of the residence halls and fraternity/sorority housing. In the winter there are elections for college representatives from each of the respected colleges on campus. To run for election all you have to do is fill out a petition to get your name placed on the ballot and voting takes place online. If you would like to get involved watch your e-mail for updates and deadlines to run for election.
Todd and I are looking forward to the opportunity to meet and work with all of you in the near future. Please feel free to stop by the Senate Office on the Second floor of McIntosh, e-mail us, call the Senate office at extension 2425, or sit in on a General Assembly meeting. Thanks for checking out our website! However you choose to contact Student Senate, we are always looking for new ideas and suggestions.
