Athletes every day are running, jumping, dodging, and diving their way past opponents in order to achieve success. Add a frisbee to the competition and a new sport emerges.
Ohio Northern University men's ultimate Frisbee team has flown past their competition this year, boasting a 13-2 record.

Think back to elementary school.
You’re in class glancing at the clock, counting down the seconds and minutes,
until finally the time comes.
It’s time for dodgeball.

With the rivalry that exists between Michigan and Ohio State, one wouldn’t expect a University of Michigan alumnus to coach football at an Ohio school. Then again, you may not expect a former first-round NFL draft pick to coach at a Division III school.

So last week I alluded to several sports curses. When it comes to sports superstition, I am indeed a believer. When I broadcast games for WONB, I try not to bring up big stats like no-hitters or shutouts, because as soon as I do, the worst possible thing happens, someone gets a hit, points are scored. I figured it was only fair for me to let you into the world of what I believe to be the biggest sports curses out there at this time.

It’s not about what her athletes have or don’t have that’s the issue, Peggy Ewald instead focuses on technique, develops what strengths the athletes do have, and relies on the quality of the training.
Unlike most coaches in the Ohio Athletic Conference, Ewald doesn’t just oversee collegiate Division III swimmers. As an assistant coach and staff member to Team USA, she also trains Paralympic athletes.

The success of a team can often be linked directly back to the quality of its coaching. Ohio Northern University has had a vast number of coaches in the past who have led their teams to victory. In all sports though, coaches tend to come and go. Over the summer, two coaches, Anthony Gholson and Jake Gleason, left Ohio Northern for other opportunities and two new coaches, Ryan New and Chad Bostelman were also hired.

As the soccer season is underway, Geoff Smith and Christina Haley are enjoying their senior seasons at Ohio Northern University. Both Smith and Haley have been a big part of the men’s and women’s soccer programs for the past four years, and hope to end their seasons with an OAC title and a trip to the NCAA national tournament.
So far, these goals look very reachable.

Once again we roll around to the fall season. I always enjoy seeing the leaves change colors on the trees because it reminds me that my weekends will be full of football. And that has been the case so far this autumn. My Sundays are filled with watching the giants of the gridiron bash each others brains out in what could be considered by some, “beautiful chaos.”
