Barack Obama (Delegate count - 1,611)
Since “Super Tuesday 2” on March 4, Barack Obama has won primaries in Wyoming and Mississippi.
Obama won 61 percent of the vote in Wyoming, defeating Hillary Clinton, who garnered 38 percent of the vote.
He then went on to win in Mississippi, defeating Clinton 60 percent to 37 percent.
The next contest for democrats is April 22 in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania has 188 delegates, and is an important state for both contenders.
Obama leads the nomination process by approximately 130 delegates–a lead that will likely be impossible for Clinton to overcome.
Hillary Clinton (Delegate count - 1,480)
After meaningful wins in Ohio and Texas on March 4, Clinton has lost back-to-back contests in Wyoming and Mississippi by wide margins.
The contest is almost certain to come down to Superdelegates, and with Obama leading her by 130 delegates, Clinton will either have to persuade the Superdelegates to buck the popular vote and support her, or lobby for Florida and Michigan’s delegates to be validated. She may also push for new elections in those states.
Most believe that the Superdelegates will not go against the popular vote. Unless Florida and Michigan are re-done, Clinton will likely lose the nomination.
