Recruitment

Recruitment is the process in which women become members of a sorority. Formal
recruitment is held in the fall, just a few weeks after the year begins.
Recruitment consists of 4 rounds: Open House, Philanthropy, Sisterhood, and
Preference.

Open House:

What to expect: Open House is informal. You should visit each of the four
houses and introduce yourself to the sisters. Do not be afraid to ask questions
about the sorority or Greek Life in general! Keeping an open mind is the key
to discovering where you belong!

What to wear: Open House is the most casual round. You should dress comfortably
in jeans and a t-shirt.

Open House Round

Questions to ask yourself during Open House:
•    Would I like to get to know these women better?
•    Were the sisters pleasant and friendly?
•    Did I feel welcome here?

Philanthropy:

During this round, the sororities will tell you about their philanthropies and
their philanthropic efforts throughout the year. You will learn why that cause
is important to the women and how they contribute.

What to wear: This round is also casual. You will be participating in projects
to help the sororities' philanthropies.

Questions to ask yourself during Open House:
•    Do I feel comfortable with these women?
•    Do I feel drawn to this philanthropy?
•    What can I gain from membership in this group?
•    What can I contribute?

Sisterhood:

During this round, the sororities will explain what their sisterhood means to
them and why it is important. This is your chance to look at the bonds formed
between these women. Trust your feelings and don't rely on the opinions of
others!

What to wear: A casual dress or skirt is recommended for this round.

Questions to ask yourself during Open House:
•    Do I still feel comfortable with these women?
•    Could I call these women my sisters?

Preference:

For the final round, you will attend two parties. This round is called Preference
because you will choose which sorority you prefer. This is your last chance to
learn about the chapter and ask any questions you may have.

What to wear: This is the dressiest round. You will want to wear a nice dress
that would be appropriate for church or a wedding.

Questions to ask yourself during Open House:
•    Are the qualities I want in a sororitiy present in these chapters?
•    Do I want these women to be my sisters?
