Denver 19th
The past couple of days have great.
Starting with Monday when I was told I had been selected for the credentials
for Obama’s acceptance speech, coupled with all of the new people I’m meeting;
I’m having a great time. Last night I hung out with the Mexican
delegation, nearly the entire night at a Moroccan restaurant, and some girls
from New York. It turns out that the Mexicans are a part of this youth
political movement called the New Alliance (I think that’s what it was called)
which hopes to run young candidates exclusively for office. We
discussed a ton of topics ranging from the Monroe Doctrine to Hugo Chavez and
it was actually a great time. Everyone was very open about their opinions
but also accepting of each others. Besides politics we talked the usual
stuff about relationships and the hot twins who were our waitresses.
That morning we had had a few
speakers including Leah Dougherty who is the Chief of Staff for the DNC and was
a very smart lady. I really liked her incorporation of faith and issue
based politics since it didn’t revolve around faith at all. Faith was
just a part of herself which she brought to her work as a reformer. I
felt like it was a huge difference from the heavy handed approach of a lot of
religious figures. She was also very open to the inclusion of different
faiths other than the big three and thought that any type of faith incorporated
with works was a good idea. I've been extremely impressed by the speakers
at the convention so far; all of them have been very articulate and intelligent
which makes me very proud to be a Democrat especially since most of these
people represent the future for the party
