The media party

Friday could not have gotten any better.  I volunteered to help register voters, met my work placement manager at the Denver headquarters for the Ohio Democratic Party, received personalized staff credentials, and was briefed on my position, that will be an opportunity of a lifetime.

After all of this, The Washington Center informed us of a 'media party' that took place at Elich Gardens.  ONU students assumed that it would be a schmooze-fest of sorts with high-profile media members gathered together for enriched conversation.  We were pleasantly suprised to find that the Elich Gardens Six Flags Amusement Park was open for those with media affiliation, complete with free admission, food, drinks, games, and speciality rides.  The ONU delegation split up into ride-riders and game-players and had an absolute blast.  I met fellow Washington Center students, media representatives from various local and national channels, photographers, and local government workers.

The reception at Elich Gardens was a celebration of all of the hard work that has gone into planning the DNC as well as all of the hard work yet to come.  Beginning Sunday, all of our lives are going to be rapidly changing hour by hour, minute by minute as we meet new people and volunteer with some of the top political minds in the Democratic Party.  This is incredible.
