What a Great Day!

Today was one of the greatest days of the Convention. It all started last night when Dr. Alexander got an email back from Chairman of the Ohio Democratic Party, Chris Redfern, saying that it would be highly possible for us to work at the ODP offices at the Convention. So, this morning, Patti Stiger and I went to work at the Ohio Democratic Party headquarters and worked preparting gift bags, checking in arriving delegates, and any other little odds and ends we needed to do. We made many contacts with the Convention staff and are going back tommorrow and whenever we have free time to work in the office some more. After the high I was on after working in the office all day, I didn't think it could get any better.

But, that was until we went to the media party at Six Flags Elitch Gardens in Denver. Nestled between the Pepsi Center and Invesco Field, many members of the media and of the Washington Center attended the park for free this evening. When we got in, we found out that all the food, drinks, and games were free. We rode almost every ride in the park and had some tremendous food. The night was topped off by a fireworks show that was shot off not in one spot in the park, but in the three spots at the same time. It was absolutely incredible. Needless to say, it was one heck of day in Denver!

It was also apparant today that the Convention is indeed coming to town. People have poured into the city, security has been consiberably amped up, and the Pepsi Center that we were able to walk by just yesterday is now completely fenced in. It is crazy how much has changed and how fast it has changed.

Finally, in all the excitement of today, the excitement of the VP announcement was lost a little by me. I have always felt that Senator Biden would be the choice and that it should be. One of Senator Obama's biggest question marks is his foreign policy experience and Senator Biden answers that question. Additionally, many older voters really like Senator Biden and that is one of Senator Obama's weaker voting demographics. So all in all, I think that it was the best choice and a good one at that.

The delgates are arriving tommorrow and it all gets started from there!
