The Craziness Continues...

Hello Everyone!

The past few days since we really started our placements with the Washington Center have been absolutely ridiculously busy and because of that our opportunities to blog have been few and far between. On Monday, I started my placement with Lifetime Television, where I got to help with their Future Frontrunners program. Future Frontrunners is an essay contest for women in high school and college who wrote essays answering the question "If I Were President...". There were nine winners who got to be shown around all the Pepsi Center as well as the Colorado Convention Center and finally to the Regis Hotel where they were treated to a series of fantastic speakers. That was my and my fellow volunteers responsibility: find the speakers and take them to the conference room we were in. In fact, I even got to meet and shake hands with Ariana Huffington.

On Tuesday, I helped set out tamborines and magazines for Lifetime at the Woman's Caucus. Following our work, we were allowed to stay and watch the caucus. In addition to the fabolous Congresswomen, Senators, women in politics, there were even celebrities. Rosario Dawson, Eva Longoria and Fran Drescher all spoke to the crowd of close to 1000. They were all great, but my favorite to see was Donna Brazille of CNN and ABC News. She gave a great speech full of energy and enthusiam for the Democratic Party, women in politics, and Barack Obama. Another tremendous thing about the Caucus was the amount of love and respect bestowed upon the late Honorable Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones. It was very much appreciated and warranted by this Ohio native.

Last night was my final job for Lifetime, which was working their Every Woman Counts Convention Party. Had I not been so exhausted, I probably would have enjoyed it much more, but because of that it was a bit of a drag. Ashanti performed and that was pretty awesome and we got all access passes for the party. We handed out swag bags at the end of the party and got to take one home ourselves (swag bag has become my go-to vocab word for this whole trip). Needless to say, it wasn't the worst placement I could have had.

Inbetween all of this work for Lifetime, I have been working at Ohio Democratic Party headquarters, where it is a typical occurance to see Governor Strickland and Senator Brown among many other Ohio Democrats wandering the halls. I have become so used to it that apparantly I even run past Madeline Albright without even noticing it! Oh the things that I have seen and done while in Denver are amazing and so surreal.

Until later, Kelly.
