"If men were angels, no government would be necessary"

James Madison was right about this one.

As far as my situation yesterday to today, I was able to get a new fieldwork placement with the CQ (Congressional Quarterly) running around delivering papers and doing errands. It has been lots of fun, though also lots of work, but I've gotten 7 pins so I view it as a success. I also got some great pictures of the podium area and the convention floor. Although periodically too busy to handle, and then boring, I like this placement for its opportunity to meet interesting and important people, and get lots of pins. I was told that a convention is not complete without a lot of pins, and I didn't really believe or understand what they were saying, until now. My role in the morning is mostly a glorified paper boy and the rest of the day I am a glorified errand boy. I am definitely enjoying it though.

The food is super expensive. A sandwich alone is $10.00 and a 12 ounce water is $2.00. From a vending machine, a 20 ounce water is $3.00.

I've seen a lot today and last night, and I am enjoying myself as a paper boy and seeing a lot of neat things and all the different media places. Reuters, Associated Press, CNN, NBC, PBS (including News Hour with Jim Leher), FOX, and a bunch of radio stations are all set up here in the RiverCentere and Roy Wilkins auditorium. It was pretty neat to be there thinking that all these people were here and reporting.

Anyway, time to go back to work.
