Change We Can Believe In

Hello Everyone!

It has been awhile since I posted, but I think all of us (on both the
DNC and RNC sides) how busy we would be during the entire two weeks, but
especially the last week. My placements with Lifetime and my self-acquired
placement with the Ohio Democratic Party kept me really busy ( and really sleep
deprived for that matter)! But, I am now ready to share with you my experience
from Thursday, our last full day in Denver, and the last day of the DNC.

Due to extreme good fortune (and the generousity of a fellow polar
bear), all of us who wanted to were able to attend the final day of the
Convention, held at INVESCO Field at Mile High, the site of Senator Barack
Obama's historic presidential nomination acceptance speech.

After waiting in a line that curled around the outside of INVESCO for
about forty minutes (which was pretty good considering the line we were in), we
made our way to our seats underneath the scoreboard, which were probably some
of the best in the house. Seated behind the major news media's headquarters, we
settled in for a long day of speeches, performances, and history. Jennifer
Hudson sang the National Anthem and Shawn Johnson, our Olympic Gold Medalist
gymnast led us in the pledge of allegiance. Throughout the afternoon we were
treated to performances by John Legend, will.i.am, Sheryl Crow, and Stevie
Wonder too! Speakers included Governor Bill Richardson, Governor Bill Ritter,
Reverend Bernice King and Martin Luther King, III in a tribute to their late
father, whose I Have a Dream speech was celebrating its 45th anniversary that
day, former Vice President Al Gore, and many other speakers in between.

After this was all done, the man that everyone had been waiting for,
Barack Obama, came out to give his speech. Now, I will admit, being in that
stadium while he was giving his speech was one of the most incredible
experiences of my life, so I am not the best judge of his speech that evening.
I was taking in everything that was there to see, so I need to watch it again.
I thought that it was good that he finally came out and fought against McCain
accusations like he had never really done before and I was just incredible
inspired by the whole experience. Having said that, I do need to go back and
watch it again to give a fair evaluation, but I thought it was pretty good and
was an experience that I don't believe I will understand the true magnitude of
until twenty or thirty years down the road.

Shawn Johnson and Jennifer Hudson

Sheryl Crow!

New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson

Stevie Wonder

Former Veep Al Gore

The candidate himself, Barack Obama

It was incredible to see the change signs and flags in person.

An amazing end to two of the most incredible weeks ever!
