ONU Student Blogs from the Democratic and Republican Conventions

The DNCC has erupted

The circus has come to town!

Each and every day there is more and more buzz! The students have met so many folks.  In this post...I want to do 2 things: (1) give you a sense of what it is like here (apart from what you are getting via the media) and (2) give you some political analysis (from a practicing political scientist) about what I have seen out here ove the past few days.  As the week continues...I may try and give more insight in regard to what I'm observing.

First...I'd like to set the stage out here in Denver.

Welome RNC folks!

A big welcome to the RNC participants!

I was able to get some photos of several of you from TWC's Flickr site...see below

Andy Lammers...

 Mike Hamper...doing the Governator?

Trying to catch up

So many things have happened to so many in the contingent!

Several others have already blogged about the media party...so I'll keep it to a minimum. However, I'll probably have more to say on it later. Here's a photo of the fireworks display.

The Land of 10,000 Lakes...

Hello all!

We have arrived! As the plane flew in this morning I couldn't help but notice, wow they weren't kidding or over exaggerating at all. There seemed to be just as many large bodies of water as there were towns scattered across the country side. I can tell you though, it was a beautiful sight to come in from the air and watch the sun dance across them.

8/23/08

I was unfaithful yesterday. I didn't post. Actually I was just really tired and passed out before I could do so. Yesterday was interesting. We got to listen to Governor Ritter of Colorado speak, followed by a panel on media and politics. Then we toured the Pepsi Center, and got to see the floor and the podium, etc (not that close though). We then volunteered with the Democratic party for several hours, and got to see Governor Howard Dean speak. To be entirely honest, I was a little upset that Governor Dean didn't get more excited.

A few DNC pics!

What a Great Day!

The media party

Friday could not have gotten any better.  I volunteered to help register voters, met my work placement manager at the Denver headquarters for the Ohio Democratic Party, received personalized staff credentials, and was briefed on my position, that will be an opportunity of a lifetime.

Biden for VP!

After much discussion and deliberation from the ONU delegation over the past few days in our group meetings, it was so incredibly exciting for us to have been awake last night for the announcement of Obama's VP!  At 1:02 am I received a text from a wonderful guy from back home announcing that Biden was the pick.  Shortly after the ONU Girls apartment surrounded my computer as we read reports from CNN and The Washington Post.
