Get Involved

Student Senate is looking for the best and brightest of the University-which includes YOU-to get involved in all of Senate's activities. Senate operates on two different election sequences: A Housing Representative sequence, which occurs early Fall Quarter, and a President/Vice President/College Representative sequence, which occurs late Winter Quarter.

Housing Representative

Each residence hall has a select number of housing representative which communicates the needs and desires of the ONU housing community to Student Senate. These people are the most respected and dedicated people, and have the support of their peers. Housing representatives must also be good communicators and listeners, as well as general observers. Each new representative is selected on a yearly basis early fall quarter.

College Representative

Each college also has a number of representatives that sit on the Senate General Assembly in order to communicate the academic needs and desires of each particular college. This allows for the academic and social desires of those students, focused from a concentration of a particular college, to have their needs addressed. College representatives also are selected on a yearly basis at the end of the Winter Quarter.

Cabinet Representatives

The President and Vice President, which are elected in conjunction with the College Representatives, appoint a number of representatives to serve as cabinet members. These representatives may be selected from the general student body and do not have to be from within Student Senate. Positions can range from academic Affairs, technology to communications. Each administration can determine different positions to appoint based on need.

Cabinet Secretaries are non-voting, non elected members of Student Senate, but provide the administrative skills that Student Senate requires and are the main advisors to the President of Student Senate.
