Hello to all my fellow Polar Bears!

My name is Kelly Morman and I am the Vice President of Ohio Northern University's Student Senate. I am a sophomore political science and Spanish double major. I first became involved with Student Senate my freshman year by running for Founders Hall housing representative. In a very contested election, I was defeated, but it taught me perseverance to eventually become involved with the organization. After expressing interest in various cabinet positions during my freshman year, I was appointed Secretary of Academic Affairs by the Eagle/Senesi Administration. I enjoyed this position thoroughly and through it, I developed a deeper knowledge of the college education system, which has resulted in a different career field than I had originally envisioned when I first stepped foot on the Tundra and into my college education.

More than just opening up a different career field and new opportunities, my time in Senate over the past year has showed what Senate does and what it can do. Though it was never my intention to run for Senate leadership, seeing where Senate has been, where it is now, and where it can go made me want to make sure that Senate continues its positive movement in an upward direction, eventually becoming the student governing body that it should, and can be. No organization on campus can have to effect that Senate can, nor does any other organization offer the same experiences that Senate can. I am living proof of that. Whether you are an incoming freshman or a senior living in the apartments or off-campus, do not hesitate to become involved and see first-hand what Senate can do for you!

As important as Senate it to me, variety is still the spice of life. In addition to Senate I am involved on the yearbook staff, in Model United Nations, Mortar Board, ONU College Democrats, as well as in my department as a tutor for the introductory-level political science courses.

It is my honor, as well as Mike's, to serve as your Student Senate Leadership. If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, do not hesitate to contact either of us, or your friendly housing or college representative; General Assembly is every week on Wednesday at 5PM in McIntosh, so do not hesitate to come there either.

See you around,
Kelly
