Candidate Reflection on Experiences

Candidates are evaluated on their ability to work successfully with students from diverse groups through the instruments described above as completed by cooperating teachers and university supervisors during both field experience and clinical practice.  Field experience evaluation summaries are compiled at the end of each term and shared with the course instructor, the candidates' advisors, and the Director of Teacher Education.  Consistently low ratings in any area would warrant further discussion with the candidate by any of these persons with the expectation for improvement with the appropriate support.  During student teaching, the university supervisor and cooperating teacher regularly observe for skills working with students from diverse groups as well as others.   If a weakness is observed, a low rating is given and the candidate is given support to improve this area before the next observation as documented by the Clinical Supervision Plan form.  The university supervisor intentionally observes for improvement in that area at the next visit.
